Hatchet Chapter 14 Summary

What is that noise?...
Brian made lots of mistakes, one night a skunk got into his shelter trying to get Brian’s turtle eggs and Brian threw sand at it. He was laying down so the skunk lifted up his tail and sprayed Brian right in the face.
I'm too short!
His eyes hurt so bad that Brian crawled out of the shelter and tried to wash his eyes out but he was temporarily blinded by it for two hours and he was very frightened.
Brian learned that food meant everything in nature so he knew he had to make a better shelter. He made a very strong shelter, one that no skunk or small animal could get into.
Brian knew he could not leave food in his shelter again so he had to have some kind of storage up high. He saw that there was a little ledge over his shelter but he could not reach it.
Brian needed a ladder to put and get his food from the ledge. He found a dead pine and chopped off the limbs so it made nice handlebars then he cut about ten feet off the pine and propped it up against his shelter.
Brian knew he could not store his fish up on his food ledge because they would rot. He got the idea from his shelter to make a small little pond to keep fish in. Brian got some rocks and a little bit of fool-bird guts as bait then he made a little trap door to keep the fish in his pond so it would be easy to catch them.
