Abraham Lincoln is enjoying a nice night out with his wife, Mary Todd, watching a fantastic play.
John Wilkes Booth intrudes into Ford's Theatre with one clear purpose, to kill Abraham Lincoln. Booth shoots Lincoln in his chair while he was watching the play.
Once Lincoln is shot, Booth escapes the theatre but is unsuccessful in disappearing. Lincoln is quickly dying.
Booth is on the run and is being chased by authorities in the area. This is the beginning of the manhunt this nation will never forget.
Booth was chased down to Port Royal, VA. He took refuge at the Garrett farm which led to his potential demise once a heavily armed patrol of 16th New York Cavalry.
At this point, both the victim and the assassin have been killed. Abraham Lincoln died not long after he was shot and John Wilkes Booth was apart of a 12 day manhunt that ended at the Garrett Farm. An assassination this nation will never forget.
