  • Albrecht Durer was a German artist who traveled to Italy to study from Italian masters. He came back to Germany and used these techniques learned in his art, especially in his engravings. Most of Durer's art resembled the large shift in power of religion at the time.
  • Albrecht Durer Late 1400s-1500s
  • Albrecht Durer's engravings were using some of the techniques he learned while in Italy learning with the masters. Engraving was a unique technique that involved making art by using acid to make engraving marks in a sheet of metal. This was a new technique that makes him a humanist because he made advancement in art
  • 1494, Albrecht Durer goes back to Germany and creates Engravings
  • Albrecht went out of his way to go to Italy and study the arts. A humanist is about the here and now, education, and the arts. Albrecht made art and educated himself on art, and expirimented with it. Durer was a humanist

  • He was a pope who made a new Greek edition of the new testament. He translated the bible into the vernacular, which people were angered with. He respond to the anger with saying the uneducated need to read the bible.
  • Desiderius Erasmus 1400s-1500s
  • Erasmus translated the bible to the vernacular so the uneducated can learn mare about God. The people were not happy with this but he argued with the fact that they aren't entitled to Christianity for the educated and rich only.  The work he did made the ideas of Christianity accessible to everyone

  • Erasmus is a humanist because of his forward thinking about the here and now. Erasmus thought about everyone because he wanted to make the bible accessible to people who were not high class or rich. He was against people thinking that the poor don't deserve information, religion and education
