Government surveyors arrived in Metis land. The men assumed that the Metis didn't own their land, and began sectioning it out to take. These actions began the struggle between the Metis and the Canadian Government.
This looks like nice, uninhabited land.
Rupert's Land is sold from the HBC to the Canadian Government, without any talk with the Metis who lived there.
My name is Louis Riel. Come join the National Metis Committee! We fight for our rights and we will not let Canada take our land!
