  • When Mother Teresa was 55, she was presented the Degree of Praise by Pope Paul, her first formal award.
  • Then in 1979, she won the Nobel Peace prize.
  • Since her death in 1997, Mother Teresa's legacy has not been forgotten. In her lifetime she created 610 foundations in more than 120 countries in the world.
  • In 1971 she traveled to New York where she opened her first American charity. She provided aid to drug addicts, the homeless, unwed mothers, and anyone else who needed her help.
  • Thank you Mother Teresa. God bless you.
  • After staying in New York for about a year, she went to Lebanon to provide aid to Christian and Muslim children in Beirut.
  • You're as skinny as a rake. Let me get you some food.
  • In 1985 Mother Teresa traveled back to New York where she spoke at the 40th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly.
