  • The Lottery Town, 1948. The lottery is a yearly tradition in this village. The lottery is done with slips of paper, one of which is marked with a black spot.
  • The person who picks the black slip plays again, but with the whole family. The 'lucky' winner gets attacked by stones until death.
  • Old Man Warner and Mr. Adams talking about the surrounding villages that abandoned the lottery.
  • Pack of crazy fools.
  • Yup.
  • Tessie gets agitated that her husband, Bill, is the one to receive the black - dotted paper.
  • Shut up, Tessie.
  • It wasn't fair!
  • Be a good sport, Tessie.
  • Tessie receives the black - dotted slip. Her family is devastated but the lottery is the lottery.
  • Tessie gets attacked by her fellow villagers. Stones are flying left and right. She, unfortunately (or fortunately, whichever), died.
