James I believed that he didn't have to work with parliament because he believed in Divine Right of King.
In 1628 Parliament tried to limit the kings power. Limit the kings ability to tax, Imprison citizens.Charles 1 signed the petition then later ignored it.

Cromwell eventually sets up a military dictatorship. Ruled until death 1658. Army restores England's monarchy.
Divine Right of Kings needs to go away..
James ll fled to France when he realized he had little support from England (many soldiers deserted him)
In 1658 William and Marry accept offer to home.
The bill of rights laid foundation for constitutional monarchy. Monarchy and Parliament worked together and destroyed the theory of Divine right of kings.
