  • Walter asks if the check that the family has waited for has come. Ruth is upset because the money is the only thing on Walter's mind.
  • Walter is talking about investing in a liquor store and Ruth is sick of hearing Walter talk about it. She tells Walter to eat his eggs and Walter gets mad because he doesn't feel like he's getting the support that he needs for his wife.
  • Beneatha expresses her feelings about god and religion and how she is sick of hearing about god. She says god is just an idea that she doesn't accept . Mama who is very religious doesn't take kindly to that and slaps Beneatha across the face. She then makes her say in my mother's house there is still god.
