  • Hi my dear friends, my name is Gregor Mendel also known as "the father of modern genetics". I was born in Austria in 1822, over time I became a monk and discovered the basic principles of heredity thanks to the experiments I held on my monastery's garden using pea plants.

  • After a lot of experiments with pea plants, I could understand the process of inheritance and discover much more things about it. Later in the future, I had the possibility to notice that my observations, which showed that the inheritane of certain traits follows particular patterns, were going to became the foundation of modern genetics and the study of heredity. Principles and discoveries that I presented in three important laws.

  • In this law, all the first generation is the same, it consists of a dominant and a recesive allele, in which the dominant one is reflected.

  • In the second generation, some offsprings will be totally pure while others are going to be hybrids. These means the traits passed from the first generation to the second one, recombinig the alleles at fertilization.

  • There are 25% pure AA, 50% hybrids Aa or aA, and there are 25% pure aa
  • All alleles are independent of each other. If for example there is an allele of shape and another of color, they do not mcombine with each other but are distributed independently to each off spring.
