It was Summer in 2012, a teacher from the school where I graduated told me that all Valedictorian from public schools are invited to take a test for the Sultan Kudarat Competitive Scholarship Program. I was hesitant at first but in the end, I took the exam. 5 days after, they texted me that I didn't got it. But few days after the text...
Cheen! The secretary called! You got the scholarship! two of the top three were disqualified but since you are part of the top 4, you got the slot!
Yes! So, are you gonna take it? It will going to be a long distance from home.
Yes, of course. As long as you are not forced into this. Don't let the opportunity pass.
I want to mom but am I ready for it? Are you going to support me if ever i accept it?
I asked a lot of people about it and most of them told me that i shouldn't let it pass. "Sayang" they would say. Then I talked to my parents about it and my decision. They told me about the arrangement if I'm going to accept the scholarship and told me that I'll be living alone since I still have two younger siblings that they need to take care of...
4 years later...
3rd Honor is awarded to Charlene Mae Corpuz of St Jogues....
Up until now, I still can't believe that it happened and I am so glad that even though I really don't have the desire to take the test, I still attended it. I wouldn't have met my friends and my best friends. It still feels surreal to me.
