Storyboard Text

  • Why will no one accept my theory?
  • I'm sorry Alfred, but you have no explanation of how the plates move.
  • But, you are missing one big piece of evidence... my theory of seafloor spreading
  • Suddenly, a figure appears out of nowhere!
  • Who are you?
  • My name is Harry Hess and I come from the future. I'm here to help you, Alfred.
  • Once-continuing landforms and matching fossils on different continents.
  • You see Alfred, you have all the evidence to prove that the continents were not connected.
  • Contients fitting together like puzzle pieces.
  • Glacier evidence where there shouldn't be.
  • How do you know so much about my theory?
  • Get off my table!
  • You think I didn't realize that?
  • Alfred, you see you have no way to prove how the plates move. My theory fixes that problem.
  • Seafloor spreading?
  • My theory of seafloor spreading explains what happens at mid-ocean ridges. A mid-ocean ridge is an underwater area where oceanic crust is recycled and formed. Magma comes out of the ridge and cools forming new crust and pushes away the older crust; the process is an endless cycle. The process of seafloor spreading is what drives the tectonic plates' motion.
