  • I am a green pea named Marcus and this is my friend Nadia. We are two pea plants, meaning we can only pass down one type of allele. or variant of a trait. As you can see I am green and she is yellow, which are our phenotypes. My genotype, or alleles that I can pass down is yy and hers is YY, making us both homozygous, meaning we have two of the same allele, but Nadias alleles are dominant and mine are recessive, so if i had one of her alleles i would be yellow because yellow covers up green.
  • thats Gregor Mendel, he decided to cross pollinate us to study how traits are passed down to offspring from parents, or genetics. Today he will be studying the colour of peas. We will be the parents

  • This is due to when you breed two true- breeding parents with different alleles, the offspring will be heterozygous, meaning it has one of each allele, so they will all show the dominant traits instead of the recessive one.

  • Now I know where the green went. It didn't show up until the second generation of peas because of the F1 generation heterozygous, so they had to be yellow
