  • Once upon a time, in a snowy New Year's Eve, there was a little poor girl saling matches.
  • 4
  • No one had bought her matches,not even given her a penny, and she was very cold. She didn't what to go empty hand home, so she continued outside.

  • The girl then sat somewhere where the cold wouldn't reach her. She was so cold she lighted three of the matches. In the bright light of the matches she saw a fire place, a roasted goose and a Christmas tree.

  • if only we had bought her matches!
  • The fourth one she lighted, her grandmother appeared, so she lighted all the matches in the bundle. She didn't want her grandmother to disappear.
  • Take me with you!
  • The little girl's grandmother took her by the hand, they flew into the sky by the stars. Where she wasn't cold and no longer hungry.
  • The next day, some town folk found the little girl dead, she had froze to death. That New Year, the little match girl was the first to cross to a happier place filled with everlasting joy.
