• Vocabulary: Divisor: This is the term you are dividing by Dividend: This is the term that is being divided Quotient: This is the answer Remainder: The “leftover” amount, this tells us that the divisor can not go equally in the dividend. (usually in fraction or decimal form)
• What is Long Division? Long Division: is a method of finding how much of a value can go inside another value.

• Step by Step: Step 1: Divide Take the divisor and see if it fits into the first term if not, try the second one. Then write above the bracket how many time the divisor “fit” inside the terms Step 2: Multiply Now multiply the number about the bracket and the divisor and place it under the term you divided by. Step 3: Subtract Subtract the term you divided by and the amount you got after you multiplied (The two numbers should always cancel out) Step 4: Carry down Take the next term and bring it down Step 5: Repeat Repeat steps 1 - 4 until you get your answer
