Storyboard Text

  • Martin Luther King Jr. inspires many people to protest against unfair segregation laws. He made his famous "I have a dream" speech.
  • People began to protest against these unfair laws, taking Martin's words to heart, many of them just teenagers.
  • Unfortunately, these peaceful protests often turned ugly when police arrived. The police blasted these men and kids with fire hoses and sometimes set police dogs on them.
  • Many of the African American protesters were arrested, even though they had caused no harm to anyone.
  • They were put in rough jail cells where they were often beaten and tortured by the white inmates.
