This is the opening shot of the opening montage, the only emotion is from the Santa hanging from rope giving us suspense. The camera will follow the priest to the edge of the scene. The sounds are dietetic, we hear an Eco of voices and the priest walking in the cave. There is no dialogue and we only have this first image so we don't know what is going on.
The priest says "Today joy DIES happiness DIES you DIE!" This is the only dialogue in this frame and this suspense gives us information for the rest of the movie. The sounds will be non-diegetic and intense music. The emotion comes in and is anger and a theme is a death. Fast change in emotion and scene. We now see the face of the killer. The camera will follow the ghosts of Santa till the frame ends. Suspense builds as the audience continues to get information.
The frame changes again instantly with no warning. We have a close-up shot of the priest's face and realise his scar. The dramatic irony is the ghost of Santa appearing in the background. This is the final shot in this setting and this will continue to zoom into the man. We hear a non-dietetic sound which is the priest chuckling. No dialogue so that we focus on the one thing said in frame 2. This is a close up is a frame for emotion.
The is the establishing shot of the city and will set the scene for the MacGuffin to take place. There is a Sun when it is raining is something we should question, and overpowering dark mood sets in. We are confused with the quick change of setting again and no confronting storyline. Sounds will be diegetic sounds of the city plus rain pattering over buildings.
The Woman first says "Here come under." The man answers saying " Oh why to thank you." The Woman then says "Please come this way I know a place." The first thing we see here is a good looking Man being offered shelter from the rain by a beautiful woman breaking a stereotype. The sounds here are non-diegetic and the voices of the 2 characters are just heard. The emotions in this frame are playful and flirty. This shot is a medium shot of the frame.
The woman says "Right this way" then after a slight delay, the man answers "Of course" The woman will then say is there anything wrong and the man replies with "well something feels joyless" this statement is important to the movie later on. The thing to notice in this frame is the change in emotion by the characters, the woman is confused and we don't know what is happening with the man. There is slight music in this shit but the sound is mostly diegetic. The camera will zoom in.
