Washington received a message from the Half-King that he had followed the tracks of two men. Which he believed had led him to the forts where the French was hiding out.
When he heard about what the Half-King had saw, he immediately sent out 40 men to attack them together. The French discovered them and he commanded his troop to fire.
They killed the Commander of the party, nine others, wounded one, and made twenty-one prisoners. The Indians scalped the dead and took away the greater parts of their arms. He was informed that they had been sent with a summons for him to retire.
