First few scenes: clip flips Using different locations, each subject will have approx. 3-5 seconds to briefly state what 'flavour' means to them (the first thing they think about when they think 'flavour') There will be approximately 10 participants (1 minute total)
How would you describe a food that is 'flavourless'? What characteristics does this food have?
Present topic and first question posed to subjects; This question will be answered by each subject; The subjects answers to this question will be juxtaposed
I will attempt to film each scene in the same setting; Each subject (3-5 people) will have approximately 30 seconds to answer this question; their answers will be juxtaposed; Subjects will alternate between the left and right side of the screen to allow for variability in video display *background setting most likely living room/kitchen area*
The sequence of the questions and answers will continue as such. Each question will be scripted according to the initial research I will complete with my subjects: the questions will be written in accordance to commonalities that are found between subjects' answers to my initial interview/discussion with them
Each subject will have approximately 30 seconds to answer this question as well, and all the questions followed. Possible topics for questions: how they ethnic/family background influences their perspective of taste, if they notice taste difference amongst friends, what dish they believe is tasty and why?, etc. *background setting same as for previous questions; most likely living room/kitchen area*
My final clip: I will summarize and conclude the interviews, noting commonalities and differences; I will end the documentary by linking these findings with some of my own research on the aspect of 'flavour'
