John was discharged after a week and was scheduled to have a follow-up with Dr. Salvana .
Over the phone...
Yes pwede siyang sumama.
Dr. Salvana explained to them about HIV AIDS. His mother took the news quietly, tears were streaking down her cheeks. John was sobbing as well. His mother hugged him and told him that it didn't matter what he had, that she loved him, and that they would get through this together.
Shortly thereafter, Dr. Salvana received confirmation of John's HIV diagnosis.
Dr. Salvana remembered how things were very different eight months ago. He first met John at the intensive care unit of the Philippine GeneralHospital he was 28 year old. He was in a bad condition, hooked to aventilator and he was not responding to the usual antibiotics for pneumonia.
