Stewart was preparing dinner one day when he suddenly slipped and fell. In the process of attempting to catch his balance his arm landed in the burner of the stove.
Stewart quickly fell to the ground. Experiencing immense amounts of pain and staring at the boiling dermis layer of his skin, he called 911.
"He will need to be rushed to the burn unit and given fluids right away!" exclaimed the paramedics
While cleaning up and examining Stewarts burns Dr. Danny stated "Stewart, I am sad to inform you that your burns look to be of the third degree and will require skin grafting to repair. We will take a small portion of skin from your upper thigh and transfer it to your wrist. We will begin operation immediately."
Due to the effect of the burns to Stewart's dermis layer of skin the skin grafting was necessary for Dr. Danny to complete in order for new skin cells to divide and heal the wound.
Stewart will need to spend a couple days in the hospital to monitor his reaction to the operation and make sure his wound begins to heal properly. He will return in 6-8 weeks to remove the bandaging and vacuum pump installed in the skin graft.
