Callie: Hey Sally! All of us are going to a movie tonight. You should really come along. It will be FUN!
Callie: Please come! It is for my birthday, and it would mean a lot if you celebrated with us!
Sally: Sorry I will probably just stay home because I just do not really feel like doing anything.
Callie: I am going to come over. I want to see you and talk to you.
Sally: Thank you for the invite, but I have not been feeling myself lately. I hope you understand.
It is hard for me to open up about this because I have been threatened if I say a word, but I have been getting cyberbullied. People are calling me names and telling me to go die. I don't know what to do.
I just wanted to check up on you because I have noticed things have been off lately. For example, you seem to be very stressed and not doing so well in school. Is there a reason fot that?
I want you to know that not only am I here for you but many people are. I am going to get you that help that you need. You need to understand that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you. I have been needing someone to help me, but I have been really scared to reach out for help because of what people would think of me.
First, I want to thank you for allowing me to express how I am feeling and for not judging me. I now know that it is important to ask for help.
I want you to know that you can trust me with your words. You can tell me whatever you want. I am here to give reassurance that everything will be okay.
You do not need to thank me, but I am glad that you are happier now. I will always be there for you, and I am glad that you accepted the help that was offered. I am proud of you.
I am feeling much more myself since I started counseling, and I have you to thank for that. I now know how to deal with my anxiety and stress and how to stand up to bullies.
