Hmph! Cooking a meal is as easy as 1,2,3!
On one fine morning, during FCE lesson, Mrs Tan announced that there would be a cooking competition in one wee, causing excited whispers amng the class.
Now that it has been a week since the cooking competition is over and the results have been tabulated, it is time to announce the winner!
Wow! I cannot believe my ears! I'm the winner?
Everyone was filled with excitement at the thought of having a cooking competition since they were competitive. Velle was no exception too. She was thinking about how she would be able to pull off cooking easily and win the competition, as she was confident in cooking and had usually gotten A1 for FCE.
W...What? The winner is not me?
On the day of the cooking competition, Velle was especially confident in the dish she was preparing and even imagined herself clinching first place.
Maybe I've been too arrogant about my ccooking skills, I've decided to be much more humble about them and not show off and assume I'll come in first place next time!
Two days later, Mrs Tan announced the winner, who was Ming En.
And the winner is...Ming En!
All but Velle was happy for Ming En. She was deep in thought, and in shock, wondering why she hadn't come in first place. She frowned, and was in bad spirits for the rest of the day.
Congragulations, Ming En!
That day after class, Velle reflected on her attitude towards the cooking competition and felt that she had been too arrogant and should've been more humble. She learnt that no matter what she did - not just cooking - she had to stay humble and not assume she would come in first in everything.
