The British in 1607 started the 13 colonies in the United States. The British started Mercantilism which was a trade system between the colonies and Britain. The British would go an pick up goods from the colonies for a little amount of money and then take them back and then make manufacture goods and sell them back to the colonies for a lot of money.
The unique thing the colonies did was New England made town meeting, Middle Colonies had universities, and last but not least the Southern Colonies had Plantation.
The French and Indian war this happened in 1754-1763. Some of the cause where the French and British where fighting over land. Some of the effects where good and the other not so much. Here some of them British won the war but lost lot of money, British won over land and made it so the colonies could not move west.
British came up with 10 Harsh Policies and sent them to the colonies. The colonies did not like the harsh policies. Some of the harsh policies was the Sugar Act that was where they got taxed on sugar, wine, indigo, and molasses. Another Tea Act that where British lower the cost of there tea so the colonies would buy from them and not the smuggled tea.
More of British harsh act are the Townshed Act they got taxed on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea to raise money for the royal officials. The Quatering Act colonies had to provide food and housing troops.
The colonies did not like the British policies so they started to do thing that showed they did not like them. Some of them are the Boston tea Party where the son of liberty boarded 3 ships and threw 90,000 pounds of British tea over board, The Boston massacre colonists "throwing snowballs" and teasing British troops which caused them to open fire, Tar and feathering hot tar and feathering were poured on British officials.
