Lynberg this was the best decision. Financially we are doing great and I have even been thinking about getting a job at the diner. I think with the extra money we would be able to go to the drive-in movie more on the weekends with Ralph and Tammy. We could even make another trip to California. Taking a family vacation is something whenever had the opportunity to do before. Route 66 and this town has given us many opportunities.
Let’s play C5, When I Fall in Love, by Nat King Cole. That’s been our song since our first visit here weeks ago
I saw where Johnnyand Sue got a new Firebird just like in the new movie at Becky’s drive in MovieTheater.
I know you were worried about our decision to move, but I think this was the best decision for our family.
Everyone is travelingRoute 66 westward. It seems like everyone is trying to get to California. I amnot surprised that you guys are always busy. We do have the best diner thisside of the Mason Dixon!
And just like a prize possession, I don’t want my prize possession having to work. At Fitz’s Tire Shop we are always busy. There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t have tons of cars needing tire repairs. I am making more money in one day than I did in close to a month back in Kansas.
Yes I think about 36,000 people were killed last year due to road conditions. Things are getting severe. I think the government has even decided to step in and take some actions.
I was reading in the paper this morning about how the roads were becoming unsafe. It seems that a lot of people had the same idea you and I had- use Route 66 to move westward to gain more stability financially. It seems that more and more people are traveling this road. Roads are becoming more used and less safe for travel.
The bigger the engine, the better they drive- and the more people that look at you when you drive by. Cars are like our prize, something we worked hard for and we want to make sure everyone see them
Is that so?
You're right. The increasing need of people to stop by for repairs at Fitz's place probably shows us just how bad the roads are getting along Route 66.
Furthermore, I think everyone is nervous about these potential nuclear attacks on America. The president has already said that the highways were not good for the evacuation of larger cities. If people had to scatter right down Route 66 in a short amount of time, Fitz's place would be covered up day and night.
It’s also given us the ability to buy that brand new Thunderbird. We are living the easy life. It is nice to be able to drive the roads and travel from place to place.
I am just glad they are traveling through our town. It keeps our business up and going. the motels are always full here. Seems like family vacations along this route are popular this time of year.
I don't think it would be a bad idea to prepare, you can never tell with those communists!
Do you think we should be worried about nuclear attacks?
I wonder how these newinterstates will affect Route 66 and this great town. I know the president hasthe best interest of the country at heart, and I support any efforts he makesto ensure we have the best defense against our enemies… but I still wonder howthis will affect us...
We moved to this city because we were looking for more opportunities, I just hope the new highways won’t take away those opportunities.
Although I hate the roads are getting worse, I sure am enjoying the extra money that has been coming in
The president also stated in the paper today that because the roads were getting so bad and the threat for nuclear war is so high, he was considering funding new highways to ensure that if large cities needed to evacuate quickly they would be able to do so.
