  • In 1803, America purchased the Louisiana Territory from France for 15 million dollars that stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains. It was 828000 square miles

  • In 1845, Texas was annexed into the U.S this land included Texas, part of New Mexico, part of Oklahoma, part of Colorado, part of Kansas, and part of Nebraska.

  • In 1846, the British and the U.S signed a treaty to end the Pig War then America acquired the land that would later turn into the states Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.

  • In 1854, the Gadsden purchase or treaty was finished and the U.S payed Mexico 10 million dollars for 29,670 square miles which later became part of Arizona and New Mexico. This land was bought so that they could build the Transcontinental Railroad.
