Hello, thank you for coming. I’m Mr. Sturmer, Bryan’s Homeroom and English teacher.
Hello.thanks for having me. I’m Bryan’s father.
Let me first say that I think Bryan is a great kid. In my English class, he is often the first student to offer an answer when I ask about a reading we have completed. He shows understanding of the content and seems to genuinely enjoy reading. He is always willing to help out his classmates when they are struggling.
Because his reading skills are quite high, it was surprising to see that he did poorly on his last summative. His performance is far below my expectations for him,and I am concerned. As you can see, his answers are confusing or incomplete.Have you noticed a change in his behavior at home that might explain this? Not really. I will speak with him tonight about this. Do you have any suggestions on how to help him?
Absolutely.I believe he struggles with reading in a timed setting. Here is a list of reading strategies that Bryan can try to engage in to be an active reader. These activities will help Bryan interact with what he is reading and help improve his literacy. Take a look and let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks.I will. I actually have to go now, but can I contact you later if I need to?
Certainly,here is my email address.
Thanks for everything you have done for my son.
I am happy to do all that I can. Thanks for coming in.
