Storyboard Text

  • The Beginning
  • Can you tell me what happened in America after World War 1 ?
  • A time period known as the Roaring 20's or the Jazz Age took place.
  • The 1920's
  • What exactly was the 1920's ?
  • The 1920s were an age of dramatic social and political change. For the first time, more Americans lived in cities than on farms. The nation’s total wealth more than doubled between 1920 and 1929.
  • Mass Media
  • Mass media made its impact onto society through the radio, the theaters and through television.
  • After World War 1 ended in 1918, people came together into communities and created art and music and it was a time period of people finding them selves. The economy stayed steady for the time being too due to newly introduced credit.
  • Women
  • Women fought endlessly for there rights and it soon paid off for the good.
  • Many Americans were uncomfortable with this new, urban, sometimes racy “mass culture”; in fact, for many–even most–people in the United States, the 1920s brought more conflict than celebration. However, for a small handful of young people in the nation’s big cities, the 1920s were roaring indeed.
  • The Great Depression
  • Many people were buying things off of credit which meant that they didn't have to pay back the stuff they bought back right away
  • Mass media took its grasp shaping the opinions of many young adults. Fashion statements were bold and new fashion trends were seen in movies and on TV,and young adults found it "cool". Mass media culture took place even in here in many living rooms on TV.
  • Overall influence the 1920's had farther down the road
  • What does the 1920's have to do with anything?
  • The women had not been able to vote up until 1920 and when they were able to then they put their votes to use right away. They prohibited alcohol right away because it was the leading factory in violence and deaths and also they took part in presidential elections as well.
  • Many people buying on credit slowed down the economy and so it eventually crashed which led to the Great Depression, which was a 10 year period.  Many banks were closed and shut down and as a result of this, Presidents from the future made new deals to prevent another depression happening.  The new deals from the future succeeded too.
  • Overall, the 1920's was a time period where people grew and where also the government learned a lot about the people. The government made moves later down the road because they learned that there problems from that the 1920's could occur again and so the future was shaped from the 1920's.
