Storyboard Text

  • Let's think about where you are now by looking at our success criteria. One thing is using citations to support your arguments.
  • Yah. I need to work on that.
  • Okay, great. That can be one of your learning goals. Can you think of a way to state that? It's something that you want to work towards achieving.
  • Sounds good. Write it down so you can look at it as you begin your next assignment.
  • How about, "I will properly use citations to support my arguments."
  • Looks good! That tells you where you're going. Now you need to think about how you're getting there.
  • How about you write down a few things you'll need to do to improve. You might find some ideas in the comments I wrote on your last paper. Then check these as you write your next paper and rate yourself.
  • Learning goal: I will properly use citations to support my arguments. How am I doing?Did I always try to find the best citation to prove my point?1 2 3 4Did I use it effectively to support my point? 1 2 3 4
  • How should I do that?
  • Now you need an action plan! If you'd like, I can help you to brainstorm some ways to improve.
  • That would be great!
  • The next week...
  • How is your self-assessment going?
  • Well, I've rated my citation use. I'm doing a lot better!
  • You can continue to set goals to meet other success criteria!
  • And I can use these self-assessment skills in my other classes too--and into post-secondary studies! Yay!
