A man steals a gem-studded cup from a tower that had been guarded by a terrible, fire-breathing dragon for many years.
The dragon then awakes, angry and realizes the cup has been stolen.
The dragon destroys the land and homes in Beowulf's kingdom, leaving people homeless and afraid.
I will defeat him, just as I did Grendel and his mother.
Beowulf, our Lord, please save us from this great monster.
The Geats' ring-giver was not as strong as he wished to be and the dragon was stronger than he anticipated.
All the men ran away except for Wiglaf and Wiglaf is very angry with them.
