Storyboard Text

  • Silent trade was a type of trade, where the two sides never meet face, to face. (Northern and Western)
  • Zac Moomaw, David Cox, Chris Mileo
  • Silent trade was used to prevent conflict and language barriers. Usually, the trade took place next to a river in the southern forest.
  • The first step is the Northern Africans lay down salt by the river in the Southern Forest.
  • Second, the Northern Africans beat on a drum to say that they have laid down the salt.
  • The North Africans walk a few miles away and waited to hear a drum from the Western Africans.
  • If the West Africans wanted more salt, they banged the drum and walked a mile away and waited for more.
  • The Northern Africans heard the drum, and came over to put more salt. They then banged the drum, and left.
