  • In 1965, Peter Buck, gave his friend, Fred DeLuca, $1,000 to create "Pete Super Submarines."
  • In 1978, the first Subway restaurant was created in Fresno, California as a way to provide consumers with fresh food in a timely fashion.
  • It appears you have contracted a virus due to food contamination.
  • In September 1999, an estimated 32 customers contracted Hepatitis A after food in two separate Subway locations in Seattle were contaminated with the virus.
  • In 2008, Subway introduced their famous "$5 footlongs," which were footlong subs customers could purchase for just $5.
  • In 2011, the $5 footings were discontinued and replaced with $6 six-inch subs.
  • In 2011, Subway started making gluten-free bread and brownies in several Texas locations. They also cut the salt intake of its sanwiches by 15 percent in order to keep in line with their "fresh is what we do" slogan.
  • By the end of 2012, Subway ranked #2 on Entrepreneur magazine's Top 500 Franchises list. It has consistently ranked on the list prior to and after 2012.
