For Anne's 13th birthday she received her most precious possession, her diary. She would write about how her day was or what was going on during her times in the attic. In Anne's diary with all this terrible stuff going on around her, she still had hope that she would someday be able to leave the attic and be able to live a normal life.
Did you guys hear that?! It sounded like it came from downstairs.
Is that the Nazi's?!
It could be a thief looking to scavenge some stuff.
The sounds of planes flying up and above make the Franks and Van Daans happy because it gives them hope that the Allied powers are coming in to save them and destroy the Axis powers. It also lets them know that they are still trying their best to win the war and help the Jews get out of this war.
Jews were sent off in trains to go to these death camps were they work till they die off get killed.
After the 18 day train ride provided with barely any food, sicknesses, and people dying, they were seperated from there families and put into camps. there they would "work to be set free."
Although Anne did not make it through her time in Auschwitz and died 2 weeks before she was set free, her father Otto found her diary and published it to the public. Her diary was so good it was translated to 70 different languages. Anne was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for how good her diary was. Anne went through the worst of the worst and was still such a inspirational and faithful person. As you can see this is why Anne is the most popular and most inspirational person to live in the Holocaust.
