Storyboard Description

3 techniques that can be used to de-escalate misbehaviour in the classroom

Storyboard Text

  • Why do you keep playing F sharp after I told you a million times to stop it. You are so annoying...so stupid!!!!
  • Good morning class today I would like you to work in groups of three and come up with 2 variations of the piece we learned last week?
  • Miss, he's yelling at me because I'm terrible at playing that song!
  • Yes because I get annoyed when we have to keep playing it a thousand times because she gets it wrong all the time
  • Henry, I notice that you are upset....is there anything that has angered you? and Lilian, you don't seem very happy today...is everything okay?
  • I totally understand how both of you feel. I used to get so frustrated sometimes but that's what teamwork is about....learning to accept that the musical piece is difficult and then finding ways of handling the task constructively. I'm so glad you were both able to express what you were feeling. Now we can really work on the task constructively.
