The Virginia company, Three ships sailed out Susan Constant, Discovery, and Godspeed along with 150 passengers in these boats and reached the shores of virginia. They sailed into a small island in the peninsula. The Three colonist settled their, They named their land Jamestown in honor of their king on April of 1607

A disastrous start John Smith sensed trouble from the beginning since all three colonist had arrived. Their was no talk between all three colonist nothing much but getting gold then washing it refining it and loading it back to the Boats. Smith talked about it but no one would listen.
As Smith predicted everything started going sideways, Diseases started to form from drinking contaminated river water. Then hunger came, Their wasn't enough food to feed everyone. Then came unaccustomed to a life of labor, which everyone refused to work and do labor work such as clear the fields, plant crops, or gather shellfish.
It was a cold winter day on 1607 with only 38 people left on Jamestown who remained alive. John Smith took in charge in order for them to survive and forced them to do manual labor. He got them to do labor by making this law, " those who don't refuse to work shall not eat ". John Smith convinced the Powhatan people to give them supplies fro the winter. Later that season Smith accidentally set himself on fire when he was wear a gunpowder bag around his neck forcing him to go back to
In the spring of 1609 600 new colonist arrived at Jamestown Hoping they can start a new life here. When the new colonist arrived their they started killing Smiths peoples crops and other riches they had. The following winter they were starving which was known as " The Starving Time " The Colonist ate what they could find meaning like crop roots/seeds, rats, snakes Even boiled leather from the shoes. From those 600 that came to settle only 60 survived
