  • NOOOOOOOOOOOO Come Back!! I gotta swim to the island.
  • *Pistol shot*
  • Rising Action
  •
  • "Don't be alarmed. I am no robber. I fell off a yacht. My name is Sanger Rainsford of New York City."
  • Rising Action
  •
  • It's gonna be hard replacing Ivan! Where can I find a big, buff man like him?
  • Climax
  • Man vs Nature "a short, hoarse cry came from his lips as he realized he had reached too far and had lost his balance." Sanger lost his balance leaning to far from the yacht and ended up falling in the water. He couldn't get back on because it was a little too fast and his buddy on the yacht wasn't aware of what was happening.
  •
  • "Mirage.. where there's man, there's food." Man vs Man. Sanger slowly swam to the land and went after the lights gleaming from distance. As he hiked through the dark jungle and discovered bones that belonged to large animals, he ran into a man as tall as mountains and as buff as a bison, Ivan. After Ivan made sure Rainsford was no harm, Zaroff offered to supply Sanger with food and shelter for the night. Little did he know about Zaroff's new hobby.
  •
  • Falling Action
  • it would be difficult to replace Ivan.... his quarry had escaped him...
  • I'm still a beast at bay
  • Man vs Man "General Zaroff was still on his feet. But Ivan was not. The knife, driven by the recoil of the springing tree, had not wholly failed." Zaroff shared  how he likes hunting humans better because they're more challenging. Rainsford was then offered to be hunted by Zaroff himself or get beaten to death by Ivan. Without a choice, Sanger Rainsford was forced to switch into survival mode and try not to get killed by the hunter for three days straight.
  •
  • Resolution
  • Man vs Man, Animal, and Nature. "Rainsford hesitated. He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea." Zaroff was on Sanger's tail, chasing him through the thick forest. He came to a halt as he came upon a cliff dropping to the hungry sea. He could hear the hounds getting closer and closer so he contemplated. Jump or fight? As the light from Zaroff's flashlight got closer, Sanger ditched the land and leaped of into the roaring sea.
  • Nerve! Nerve! Nerve!
  • Man vs Self, "General Zaroff had an exceedingly good dinner in his great paneled dining hall that evening. With it he had a bottle of Pol Roger and half a bottle of Chambertin." As he fed himself full, he thought about what went down during this interesting evening. He thought about how hard it would be to replace Ivan. He thought about his best dog he lost because of Rainsford's Burmese tiger trap. He also thought about how Rainsford managed to escaped him
  • Man vs Man, "A man, who had been hiding in the curtains of the bed, was standing there." As Zaroff entered his bedroom after his dinner, he encountered Rainsford. Zaroff congratulated him for winning this hunting game. Sargen stated that he was "still a beast at bay" warning Zaroff to get prepared to fight as he is ready to kill a man. It ends with Sargen sleeping on the bed comfortable and at peace meaning the game was won. It was indirectly stated that Sargen killed Zaroff.
