Storyboard Text

  • I'm just a private person. Listening to everyone's problems isn't going to help me.
  • It sounds like you have some reservations about group therapy.
  • by: Christina Hall
  • I do. I've been depressed for so long. And the last thing I feel like doing is be the centre of attention.
  • Let's have a chat about it and explore some more of your worries, and steps we can take to introduce you to the concept.
  • I don't want to feel pressured to talk if I don't want to.
  • That is ok. One of the benefits of group therapy is there is more than one participant. And the discussion can be problems and fears, successes and hopes.
  • Why don't we write down some of your goals for treatment. Areas or topics that you think would benefit you to explore.
  • These can then be topics you take into group to bring up when you feel ready.
  • No one is going to understand my problems.
  • We create groups where the members are struggling with similar issues. That way the topics, exercises and information discussed will be relevant to your needs.
  • Here's some information about the group for you to read. It will help you become familiar with how it is run and its goals.
  • This is the space groups are held. It is important to feel safe and comfortable, which I hope having information and a visual reference will help you with.
  • Depression Group
