Anyone can get skin cancer and symptoms will vary based on what type of skin cancer. Basal Cell carcinoma signs include pearly or waxy bump. Squamous cell carcinoma signs include firm, red nodule and flat lesion with a scaly, crusted surface. And lastly Melanoma signs and symptoms include large brownish spot with darker speckles, mole that changes color, size, feel or that bleeds. Symptom also include small lesion white irregular borders and positions that appear red, white, blue, or blue-black.
Skin Cancer is an abnormal growth of skin cells. Three most common include basal cells, squamous cells, and the melanoma.
This disease can have a huge impact on your family life. You will need to visit the hospital more often. Other family members will probably feel nervous or worried. Treatment may also cost a lot of money.
There are many risks you cannot control that increases your risk of getting skin cancer. For example, having fair skin, blonde or red hair, and if you freckle or sunburn easily.
But there are things you can control such as living at lower elevations can decrease your exposure to radiation. Avoid tanning beds and contact with substances such as arsenic
Protect yourself by staying the shade, especially between 10 am to 4 pm. Wear protective clothing such as hats or sunglasses with UV protection. Also wear sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher everyday.
