  • We the British are in control now and now you will follow our rules

  • The British had imperialism because they had a desire for power so they decide to conquer countries and one country they conquer was Africa. They were interested in Africa because the continent was rich in mineral resources and raw material like gold, sliver, spices, and cotton. Also they wanted more land.

  • The British took over by controlling Africa and the people and it was direct rule. They change the African style religious and culture to European culture religious and style and controlling Africa the people. This was done by missionary like David Livingstone This resulted in a jihad because the African did not like the European changing their religious culture and style.

  • Let us divide Africa and all of us get a part and I will get the north part
  • Ok I will get the west part of Africa
  • The British put African in slavery in which result in slave trade which was lead by the protectorate But, even though David Livingstone help change African style culture and religious he did not like slavery and the slave trade. However, the British did trade with resources for farming and did the  slave trade with Europe nations in which resulted in the scramble for Africa.
  • Outcome
  • The result of the changes was  African lost control of land. Also other impacts was education, railroad, new resources, diseases, medicine, and ending of tribal warfare. 
  • The Berlin conference was make because other nations wanted to control Africa and there was indirect rule due to the nations like France, Italy, Belgium. However, the British train some African to fight  as solider for war but an elite named Menelik II played Italian, French, and British against each other. But that did not stop  the European because they still remained in control.

  • As a result, the European got total control and what they wanted which was power and power stayed until Africa countries  gained independence.
