Meet Oliver. Oliver is an 8 year old Scottish boy that was recently adopted by the Freedman Family. The Freedman Family is a loving Hebrew family that are very happy to share their love and traditions with Oliver. Oliver also has an older step-brother named Adam. Oliver and Adam have been spending lots of time together playing and getting to know each other.
Oliver has never been introduced to any religion before and is interested in learning all about Judaism. Adam helps Oliver by introducing him to the Torah. Every night Oliver and Adam read a story from the Torah together before bedtime.
Mr. Freedman tells Oliver that tomorrow, his family will be celebrating Purim. Oliver is very excited as this will be his first Jewish holiday . He learns that Purim is a day that is spent giving, eating amazing foods and spending time with family.
Oliver cannot fall asleep because he is too excited and nervous for Purim. He will be meeting new people and enjoying a day filled with family traditions. Oliver stays up all night to learn the story of Purim and why it is so important.
When the sun rises, Oliver wakes up with a big smile on his face. Today is the fourteenth day of Adar, which means it is time to celebrate Purim.
The House smells so good says Oliver, as he sniffs the fresh scent of the Hamantasch pastries that his mom is making. He was awake and ready to celebrate.
