  • May 25 1787 Delegates from 12 states excluding Rhode Island arrive in Philadelphia for the constitutional convention
  • They all gathered in a room with all doors and windows closed so that no one knew what they were talking about
  • Virgnina and New Jersey both had plans that they wanted to present to the convention
  • Finally they decided on a compromise which favored both the Virgina plan and New Jersey plan and they called it the 3/5th s compromise
  • They talked about how they did not have a strong central government and how they could possible fix it they talked about the slave issue that was happening in a america
  • Ships carrying slaves were not allowed to dock in us ports or they would be fined and they could possibly not be allowed to sail again
