  • The Holocaust
  • Invasion of Poland
  • Operation Sea Lion
  • The Holocaust started in 1933 and ended in 1945. At first Nazi troops began rounding up Jews and executing them. Other Jew were sent to labor camps and concentration camps, where they worked to death. By 1945, the Nazis had killed more than 6 million Jews.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor
  • On September 1st, 1939, German forces invade Poland.German forces invaded Poland from the north, south, and west the morning after the Gleiwitz Incident.Two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany.
  • D-Day
  • Hitler made plans for Operation Sea Lion. He started with the invasion of Britain. In 1940, for a month, Britain's Airforce  valiantly battled the Luftwaffe. Then the germans began to bomb London and other cities.
  • Defeat of Japan
  • With talks at standstill, General Tojo ordered a surprise attack. On December 7, 1941, Japanese bomber planes bombed the American air fleet at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This took lives of 2,400 people and took down battleships. The next day President Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan. 
  • OH LORD
  • On June 6th, 1944, the Allies launched a surprise invasion on Normandy in France. More than 156,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel. By the end of the day, 2500 men had lost their lives. By August, the Allies had made it to Paris and Freed German control.
  • FOWARD!!
  • In July 1945, scientists successfully tested the first atom bomb. The new American president, Harry Truman decided to use this weapon on Japan. n August 6, 1945, an American plane dropped an atom bomb over the city Hiroshima. Then on August 8, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb and this time it was on the city of Nagasaki.
