  • These are the third estate people who are the poorest of the three estates want the King Louis XVI, and Marie Antoinette who was a big spender and was disliked in France. The third estate wanted to change the system, and were angry at Louis because rumors flew that Swiss soldiers payed by Louis were going to attack the French citizens. 
  • I Maximilian Robespierre will make France a powerful country again.
  • On July 14 an angry crowd captured the Bastille, a Paris prison. The mob wanted to get gunpowder for their weapons in order to defend against the city. 
  • Napoleon Bonaparte has won this war for the country.
  • A wave of violence called the Great Fear swept the country. Peasants broke into and burned the nobles' houses, and tore up any documents that had forced them to pay fees to the nobles.  
  • Once Louis was executed a new leader began to lead France named Maximilian Robespierre who made many changes. One of these changes were ordering to put to death people who did not agree with him. Robespierre reign began in 1793 which was called the Reign the Terror. It ended in July 1794, when Robespierre was put to death. 
  •  In 1795 Napoleon Bonaparte led his soldiers against French royalists who were attacking the National Convention. For this Bonaparte was hailed as the savior of the French republic. Napoleon did a lot of good things during his reign like make taxes more fair and orderly, start new public schools for ordinary citizens, and remove dishonest government workers. 
  •  Napoleon Bonaparte was a man that wanted to conquer the world like Russia that failed since of starvation and the cold weather. Napoleon was weak with only 10,000 men. Other leaders saw that France was weak, and attacked. Napoleon gave up his throne in 1814 but returned boldy in 18 15 to France, and built another army. By June Napoleon lost his final battle near a Belgian town called Waterloo. This time his sent to a far-off island in the southern Atlantic Ocean. He died there in 1821.
