Odysseus's men open the bag that gives his voyage stormy winds.; Odysseus landed on the island of Lasetrygones and cannibals threw boulders at the Odysseus leaving him with one ship and45 men.

  • And all this shall be just as I foretell...
  •  Circe puts a trance on Odysseus's men by giving them a drink and turns them into pigs. To get them out of the trance Circe says that Odysseus has to first visit the land of the dead and hear a prophecy from the ghost of Tiresias.
  • Sirens, Scylla, Charybdis
  • Only instruct me, goddess,if you will how, if possible, can I pass Charybdis,or fight off Scylla when she raids my crew?
  • Because Odysseus' men ignore his warning not to eat the cattle, Zeus sends a thunderbolt that sinks the ship. Odysseus survived and drifted to Ogygia, home of Calypso who keeps Odysseus for seven years.
  • Thrinacia
  • We shouldn't be here.
  • Following Circe's direction, Odysseus and his mean go into the Land of the dead where Odysseus encounters many souls who he once knew. He speaks with them and comes across Tiresias. Tiresias foretells what will happen in the future, and what Odysseus and his crew should and should not do. Hearing what the Tiresias says and speaking to his mothers Odysseus and his crew sail away from this place out of fear.
  • Odysseus and his men return to Circe's island and Circe begins to give advice and many warnings into what they will see in the underworld. She talks about Sirens and how they shouldn't hear the Siren's song,to not fight the Scylla and Charybdis but instead flee from them.Lastly she tells Odysseus they will coast Thrinacia where Helio's sheep and cows live, and they shouldn't raid the cattle or there will be destruction.
  • Odysseus warns his men to not visit Thrinacia, the island of Helios, but due to their immense hunger, they ignore him and go anyways and eat Helios's cattle. This obviously upset Helios and he threatens to not let the sun shine. Odysseus tries to appease him by making sacrifices, but Helios is not satisfied. So, Zeus strikes Odysseus ship and sinks it. Odysseus is the only one to survive and is then held hostage by Calypso.
