  • It's stopping, its stopping!
  • Yes, yes!
  • Where's Teacher?
  • She'd better hurry, we'll miss it!
  • She'll Be back.
  • What're you looking at? -- Speak when you're spoken to.
  • Way far away on the distant planet known as Venus, a civilization was blooming. Many years ago, astronauts came here to colonize the planet. Now, their children must live in the rainy world that their parents brought upon them, where it is constantly raining without the smallest drop of sunlight.
  • Hey, everyone, let's put her in a closet before the teacher comes!
  • CLOSET .
  • No!
  • The children, currently in school, anxiously await the clearing of the clouds and the revealing of the sun. This will be the first time in seven years that the sun has come out, and this is going to be the first time they remember seeing the sun.
  • Margot was different from the others, and they knew it. She was the only one who had a memory of the sun, and the only one who lived on earth before coming to Venus. She tried telling the others what the sun looked like, but they never believed her. One boy, William, especially didn't like her, and influenced how the other children thought of her. They knew she was different, so they avoided her.
  • CLOSET .
  • William said "It was all a joke, wasn't it? Nothing's happening today, is it?" Then the others started playing along, agreeing with him and shaking their heads saying "Nothing, nothing!" She tried defending herself, saying that this is the day the scientists predicted the sun would come out, but they still said it was all a joke. William convinced them to lock her in a closet before the teacher came back, so they all forced her down the hallway and into a closet, where they locked her inside.
  • They arrived back to the classroom just as the teacher came back. She checked the time, and then opened the door, where the rain was slowly lessening until it finally stopped. The children stood there in awe, staring at the sun for the first time they could remember, amazed. Then they ran outside, feeling the sun's warmth on their faces, and seeing its brightness. After about two hours, the sun went away again, where it was replaced with rain.
  • As the children returned back inside, someone yelled "Margot!" The other children realized what had happened, and couldn't met each other's eyes. They slowly approached the closet door that they locked her in, and even more slowly, they let her out.
