In 1926 Satchel Paige joined the Chattanooga Black Barons of the Negro league as he was not allowed in the MLB.
As people heard about his great pitching whatever team he was on became very popular as his games were getting sold out.
In 1948 at the age of 42 Satchel Paige was signed by the Cleveland Indians in the MLB
In his first season (he only was around for half) in the MLB, he went 6-1 with an ERA of 2.48 which is very good.
At age 59 he pitched his final career game. He threw three scoreless innings and giving up just one hit for the Kansas City Athletics. He was the oldest player ever, and one of the greatest pitchers ever.
