Madame Loisel is a sad women living in the middle class with her husband. She dreams of living in luxury.
One day Madame Loisel's husband comes home with an invitation to a special event. She is furious because she has nothing to wear.
Woman vs. Society. Madame Loisel is struggling because she wants so badly to be able to go to the party and be apart of the upper class.
Madame Loisel finds a way to get a dress and borrow a beautiful diamond necklace which allows her to have the time of her life at the party. But she soon realizes she lost the necklace she had borrowed.
Madame Loisel and her husband looked everywhere for the missing necklace but they can't find it. So they work for ten years to pay off the money they used to buy a new necklace, causing them to go in the lower class.
The woman tells Madame that the necklace was worth a lot less then what she paid for the replacement. Madame wasted 10 years paying off money for the second necklace.
Madame Loisel sees the woman she borrowed the lost necklace from 10 years ago. She tells her about what happened now that it's paid off.
