  • The Stamp Act was when you had to purchase stamps for all paper publications
  • Parliament passed this to help pay for British troops
  • "No taxation without representation"
  • Colonists were upset because they are being taxed when the didn't have a say in Parliament. 
  • They wouldn't pay taxes unless they had a say in Parliament. They boycotted  paying the taxes.
  • Because of all the boycotts they repealed the stamp act and took off the taxes of every piece of paper
  • The Quartering Act was an act that required colonists to pay for the housing of British soldiers
  • The Townsend Act of 1776 was an act that imposed taxes that colonists had to pay on tea, glass, lead, paper, and paint colors
