Storyboard Text

  • Romeo and Juliet: Act 2 Scene 3
  • Another literary term used in this scene is the simile, "And fleckled darkness like a drunkard reels." This is a simile because it is comparing two things while using "like" or "as."
  • The "gray-eyed morn smiles on the frowning night" is an example of personification. It demonstrates personification because the morning cannot smile and the night cannot frown.
  • The gray-eyed morn smiles on the frowning night, Check'ring the eastern clouds with streaks of light
  • Romeo goes to Friar Lawrence in order to persuade him to marry him and Juliet. Friar Lawrence agrees because he believes it will end the feud between their families.
  • Hello Friar!
  • Hello Romeo! Why are you here so early? You must have something very important to ask....
  •
  • I went to a Capulet party, and I fell in love with this girl named Juliet. We love each other, and we want you to marry us.
  • Friar Lawrence is a hopeful person because at the end of the scene he states how he hopes that marrying Romeo and Juliet will end the feud between their families.
  • But, I thought you loved Rosaline. You cried about her so much!
  •  Friar Lawrence is also a kind person because he agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet when most people wouldn't because their families are enemies.
  • Thou chid'st me for loving Rosaline.
  • For doting, not for loving, pupil mine. (For liking her appearance, not her.)
  • Romeo is passionate because he loves Juliet with all his heart, and he is also convincing because he convinces the Friar to marry him and Juliet by telling him how much he loves her.
  • I'll marry you and Juliet, and hopefully it will end the feud between your families.
  • In one respect, I'll thy assistant be, for this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your households' rancor to pure love.
