Storyboard Text

  • British are Chasing Us!
  • General Washington, we are being chased by redcoats. What do we do?
  • I want to cross the river. It is the only thing that can be between us and them.
  • Acquiring the Boats
  • Excuse me, sir. We need these boats for Washington's army.
  • Well, tell him that he is a bandit for taking my boats.
  • A Plan to Attack!
  • Are you insane? Our American forces can't defeat the Hessians.
  • Our plan is to attack the Hessians at Trenton on Christmas Morning. The attack would be a surprise so the Hessians won't be ready at the time.
  • A army of British Soldiers were chasing Washington's army all the way to the New Jersey border. The only way to escape, Washington proposed, is to cross the Delaware River.
  • Crossing the River (Again)
  • Washington commanded Colonel Glover to acquire the boats from a local man. Even though the man was not pleased with it, the army still acquired the boats of their 2,000 men.
  • Beginning of the Battle at Trenton
  • Because the enlistment of Washington's soldiers were expiring soon and the fact that the British were waiting for the river to freeze over so they could follow the army, Washington announced a bold plan. They would cross the river, and on Christmas day, they would attack the Hessians at Trenton, New Jersey, early in the morning, when it is still dark. This plan was under attack, however, by General Gates.
  • Ending the Battle at Trenton
  • I have been shot, we must surrender!
  • The 2,000 troops are loaded onto the boats. It was cold and snowing at the time. Due to the time taken to load up the boats, Washington figured out that it is impossible to attack in the dark, so they will attack in the daylight.
  • We might be a bit late, but we will still attack, even if it's daylight out.
  • The Americans had take the Hessians by surprised. None of the Hessians were prepared, so many were killed. The Americans were gaining the upperhand.
  • AHHHH!
  • RAHHHH!
  • FIRE!
  • The Hessians were trying to rally up in a meadow, but they were surrounded. Once Colonel Ral has been shot in the chest, the Hessians have surrendered. The Americans have won.
  • I understand, sir. LOWER YOUR GUNS, MEN! WE ARE SURRENDERING!
