Antony won the race and then decides to try to offer Caesars. Every time he was offered the crown he would reject, in a total of 3 times. "Why there was crown offered him; and being offered him, he put it by with the back of his hand, thus; and then the people fell a shouting."(I:i:220). We all know he did this for a show and hopes that the people of Rome would want him to be king.
Act IIII: Sc 3
Brutus is talking to his servant and Brutus is wondering what will happen when Caesar is crowned. His servant returns with something for him. Its a letter saying "Brutus thou sleep'st. Awake, and see thyself." (II:ii:46). So the letter pretty much said stop just sitting there and help us kill Caesar.
Act IIIII: Sc 5
So the conspirators took Caesar to work. Trebonius has the honor to take Antony away from the murder scene. Casca was the first to stab Caesar, and not long after everyone follows. Then Brutus stabs him and Caesar says "Et tu, Brute?" (III:i:76) after he said that he died. Caesar thought Brutus was a good friend, and was confused why he would kill him too.
So Brutus goes to bed after getting sung to. He wakes up not much longer to see Caesars ghost, and say "Ay, at Philippi." (IIII:iii:284). So ghost pretty much said to Brutus ill see you at Philippi. The ghost leaves so Brutus wakes up Lucius and asked if he seen what happened and he didn't. Brutus wakes up everyone and they are marching to Philippi.
Brutus calls over a soldier and tells him how hes been seeing Caesars ghost, Brutus thinks its time for him to die.... So Brutus asks to hold a sword so he can run into the blade and the soldier says "That's not an office for a friend, my lord." (IIIII:iiiii:28). Brutus believed him and Caesar were friends when he was murdered.
Theme in this story could be don't always trust everyone. Ceasar's friend killed him because they were scared of what would happen when he was crowned king. "Had you rather Caesar were living, and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men?" (III:ii:23) at first all the Rome people hated them for what they did put then they understood and was thankful. Not long after they got Antony's idea then hated them again.
